This is great news form the east coast regarding Eric Anderson and his (mostly) Monterey crew who just won the Ocean Great Lakes Challenge sailed in Newport, RI.

I am extremely excited and very proud to report that our very own Eric Anderson and his crack Shields crew from "Team Tiburon" won the ultra competitive Ocean Great Lakes Challenge this weekend back on the east coast!!! The event was sailed out of the Ida Lewis Yacht Club in Newport, RI and consisted of ten top teams entered from 8 fleets from throughout the country. Five races were completed with the top five finishers and results as follows:

  • 191 Anderson/Greene (Monterey) 4-2-3-3-1 13
  • 33 Slee/Alison (Newport) 1-1-6-5-3 16
  • 237 Deyett/Berry (Marion) 5-3-1-6-2 17
  • 182 McGuire (Larchmont) 2-5-4-4-8 23
  • 181 Johnson (Newport) 6-4-9-2-4 25

From the above results, it looks like it could have gone a number of ways right up to the very last race! We expect a full race (and social) report from Eric when he returns with details to follow. Until then... Please join me in congratulating Eric and his team of from Monterey consisting of Todd Green (helmsman), Jon Dean, Robert Vann (formerly NPS in Monterey) and Randy Shore of Quantum Sails!!!

Way to go you Guys!!!
