A list of common MPYC events and their descriptions.

All event months are approximate.  Please see the Calendar for exact event days/times.

Monthly or Recurring

Adventure/Movie Night - Guest speakers or video presentations on various topics, such as sailing, sharks, tsunamis, and the upcoming Americas Cup race.  Hors d'ouerves are often served and popcorn too!

Cruiser's Potluck - A monthly gathering of the MPYC Cruisers, a group of boating enthusiasts who discuss social and educational opportunities and to cruise to exotic locations ranging from Del Monte Beach to the British Virgin Islands.

New Member’s Night and Wine Tasting - On selected Friday evenings new members are welcomed and local vintners offer tastings of their wines with members and guests selecting their favorites.

Race Dinners and Dancing on the Deck - Special races events that include a dinner hosted by MPYC and dancing to the music of the House Band.

Winemaker's Dinner SeriesMPYC conducts three winemaker's dinners annually featuring the great wines of California winemakers. Seating is limited to 48 to ensure the evenings are intimate and dress is casual. Chef Ray prepares four wonderful courses to complement the wines selected. The evenings begin with a "meet the winemaker" hour at 6-7pm where you may get to taste barrel samples or something else special. The first course is presented at 7pm.

February

Mardi Gras Party -  Cajun Celebration sometimes with live jazz music. Some "indulgent" behavior might be expected on this traditional party night with members and guests wearing (or not wearing) costumes, masks, and beads.

Open that Bottle Night - Remember THAT bottle that you got for a special occasion, the bottle that you hid to celebrate many years later... Well, OTBN is where you need to be to open THAT bottle! Each attendee or couple brings a bottle that they may have been saving for a special occasion, a big bottle too large to open and drink at home, or for those who want to come but have no special bottle- drop by a good wine store, pick up a great wine and make up a story! We'll go around one large communal table and tell stories of our wines as we enjoy a four course dinner. Jerry Stratton will be there to open and decant old bottles for you.

"MPYC's Got Talent" & Potluck Cookoff - An annual variety show and potluck contest where the winners gets recognized by an audience of ftheir fellow members and guests. Prizes for the best food categories: appetizers, side dishes, main course, and desserts.

St Patrick's Day Celebration - Featuring green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and live Celtic music by one of our own member's band.

April

Open House - A Spring-time event where the local community is invited to visit the Clubhouse and discover the many activities and events MPYC provides members and the community.

May

Birthday Party - Celebrated on Memorial Day by members. Jerry Mayo and crew prepare special small dishes and members contribute to the fair with their special appetizers. Birthday cake and blazers with patches are the order of the day.

June

Commodore’s Regatta and BBQ - Sailors race to and from Stillwater Cove in this annual event. Chef Ray and crew cook up a terrific BBQ on the wharf in front of the Beach and Tennis Club on Saturday for the racers, members and guests.

October

Halloween Ball - A big Halloween bash with "boo-fet" food and treats for the kids. Members and guests dress up in their best costumes to win a prize, with music and dancing until the midnight hour.

November

Harvest Dinner and Auction - A fundraiser for our Junior Sailing program, this event includes a fabulous dinner from our own Chef Ray as well as silent and live auctions. Special items are sold to the highest bidder by our lively auctioneer Jerry Stratton.

December

Commodore's Ball - Held in December this is the culminating event of the year.  A formal black tie event where club members are recognized with trophies for the racing series and notable contributions during the past year, including the 'Dubious Achievement Award' for the most inadvertent "lesson" to others.

New Year's Eve Gala - Make your plans now to reserve a table to enjoy fine dining by Chef Ray, and live music by the "MPYC House Band" and other musical guests. Includes a champagne toast at midnight to 'ring' in the new year on the house bell.
