MPYC provides a variety of social events throughout the year, ranging from wine tastings where specific vintners are invited to display their wines, to talent nights where anyone can play their instrument of choice, to theme parties based on the holiday - often with music.

Adult Sailing

The club has a special program just new new adult sailors! Just because you didn't learn to sail in your youth won't stop you from becoming a skipper on the high seas.  Our adult sailing groups tackle all types of small boats from small keelboats and centerboards.  We learn (or sometimes re-learn) the basics including knots, basic rules of sailing and harnessing the wind for an exciting afternoon on the Bay.

Even the most seasoned sailing vets enjoy getting out on the water with newbies and intermediates on the small boats to get an up-close sailing experience not to be forgotten.  Our adult sailors span multiple generations and gather together to celebrate their simple love of the ocean and a chance to harness with the wind.  It's no suprise that adult sailing has become one of our most popular programs at Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club.

MPYC Rowing is a recreational rowing club that strives to be inclusive. For beginning and recreational rowers we offer instruction and certifications for various levels.  For competitive rowers we sponsor our own regatta along with ample opportunities to compete along the West Coast, elsewhere in the United States, and internationally.

We have short and long-distance routes along the scenic Monterey and Pacific Grove waterfront all the way to the open ocean. While rowing, rowers will see the abundant wildlife habitat of the bay and experience a wide range of rowing conditions.

The Cruising Club organizes many interesting speakers at the meetings, plans many exciting cruises and events. We are constantly looking for good ideas from all of you for topics and speakers for future events. Topics have ranged from building a boat, slide shows on cruises all over the world, to various boat activities such as cooking, navigation, appraisals, rules of the road, and other ocean and boat-related activities.

Our special cruises take us throughout the Central Coast from Capitola to Moss Landing, Pebble Beach and Santa Cruz.

Human Powered Watercraft
