Juniors
Monterey Peninsula Yacht club has a deep commitment in promoting junior sailing. MPYC youth sailing teams compete throughout California and the club is the frequent host of high school and junior sailing regattas. Our Junior Program actively works to encourage young peoples’ interest and skills in sailing. The club sponsors a variety of activities for junior members that range from local races and fun sails to inter-club challenges with other junior groups.
MPYC has an active junior sailing program for students in grades 6-12. Our Junior Teams practice from August until May. High School team members may compete at regattas throughout the state. As a public service, the club runs a highly popular summer sailing camp for juniors.
The junior program at MPYC strives to produce active, self-motivated, and competent sailors; many of whom continue to sail throughout their college career and beyond. Children, grandchildren and other young sailors known to members are encouraged to inquire about sailing team activities through the junior advisor.
